Recently on Halsey St. in Brooklyn, a homeowner noticed a stream of water surfacing on her sidewalk. She contacted the city to determine where the water was coming from, at this point they were quick to determine the homeowner’s pipe was leaking. DEP performed a noise test on the old lead pipe for a final confirmation and issued a DEP 3 day notice.

DEP 3 Day Notice |
As the neighborhood water main and sewer specialist, Harris Water was hired to fix the leaking pipe on an emergency basis. The excavation process began the very next day by opening a hole in the street on top of where the city main is located. A secondary hole was opened on the sidewalk, and at this point a tunnel was made from the street to the sidewalk.

Once the tunnels were completed, the new copper water main was installed from the hole in the street, to the hole on the sidewalk and into the house.
