This week in Queens Harris Water was able to help 14 Queens home and business owners. Each owner experienced a problem with their water main or sewer, and needed the expertise of a licensed plumber to assist in a resolution.

The homeowner of a small single family house had been made aware that their water main was broken and now leaking on the sidewalk. Their neighbor contacted DEP after noticing that there was water coming out of the sidewalk. Like many other homeowners, they assumed this is a problem with the city water mains.
The owner now had 72 hours to repair the water line and began by calling Harris Water Main & Sewer Contractors. After receiving a very reasonable price, Harris Water was hired to install the new water main over the next day.

The entire replacement was completed the very same day, relieving the homeowner of any additional problems with NYC or their neighbors.
Jamaica Queens sewer break under sidewalk
A business owner in Jamaica, Queens had been doing what he thought was maintenance for his sewer line on a monthly basis. Early Monday morning the building received another sewage backup after “maintaining” the sewer line just two days earlier. Harris Water was called to the scene and quickly became aware that the sewer line was broken, and had to be repaired on an emergency basis.
After Harris opened the sidewalk, they became aware that the months of “maintenance” was nothing more than a band aid. The sewer cleaner was clearing the soil outside of the broken sewer pipe; the sewage was seeping into the surrounding soil which had created an undermining condition.

Harris installed 10’ of new pipe and received DEP inspections all in one day. The business owner was also made aware that the remaining sections of pipe was not in the best condition, and he may want to replace the pipe before experiencing another emergency situation.
New homeowners in Whitestone Queens replace water main and sewer line
A young couple had recently purchased their dream house and was made aware that their lead water main should be replaced with copper before moving in. It was also suggested to have a camera inspection performed on the sewer line. It is very common that homeowners become aware of a broken sewer line, only after they move in and start to utilize the plumbing fixtures. The couple decided to make a proactive decision and replace both the water main and sewer. They were worried that the replacement would hold up their move in date, Harris guaranteed that the work would be completed within two days and could start the same week.

The water main was on the “short side” of the street which means that most of the excavation work would be completed during the sewer installation process. For this reason, the owners are paying 25% of the normal cost for their water main installation.
